!FTN small squareWe are so back, baby. And so are the Space Marines. So sorry for the extended time between…
well look thanks everybody for holding it together uh including yourself mr camilleri uh so we're here actually talking about speaking of change and different space marines codex space marines is about to be the second codex for uh 11th edition that we've seen And, you know, now we've got something to compare the orcs to and maybe also to draw some ideas about what the codexes for the future may look
Firstly, the first one that jumped out to me is that, man, GW is trying to make warlords a thing again, like a reason to have a warlord listed in your list.
feels almost like it was a holdover from previous editions, of course, where like Slay the Warlord was a thing and there were missions around, you know, that and points.
It's been a hundred years since they've been asking me, like, so who should know?
Yeah, it hasn't mattered for literally six years, because when we lost Warlord traits in 9th, and then there started to be no more card for killing your opponent's Warlord or no secondary associated with it, there really wasn't a point.
There was no point to click that button, but we all had to do it for six diggity-damn years anyway.
But now you'll get an extra CP if the associated thing is your Warlord, and seeing as both Orcs and Marines have it, you can assume it's going to flow over to some other factions as well.
I kind of appreciate what they're trying to do here because a lot of old guard kind of miss the force org chart where you take your warlord and troops or whatever, and it feels like a way to bring that back.
Like, hey, if you bring this particular character unit as your warlord, then you're probably going to want some sort of bodyguard unit for them.
And in the case of the things that they've chosen to give you this extra command point, it's usually going to be some sort of standard troop unit or adjacent to that.
And it kind of feels like opening up the force org chart a little bit without forcing your hand to do it.
