Speaking of the engagement, of course, when did you realize this was the person you wanted to be engaged to? How did you know?
Yeah, I mean, forever.
But I do think like.
Um, it certainly took like, we were a slow burn.
Like I think about us whenever we met at like 19 and 20, it took us kind of like a year to like really get into like saying, I love you.
And like, all of that thing.
Like we were the total opposite of what like a typical lesbo relationship is.
I think where it's like super quick, I love you and you're the person for me.
I think also we just had so many different like priorities.
Like we were so focused on school.
We were so focused on just like getting jobs and like focusing on our lives and like also spending time with our friends.
So it was a while, but I have like little moments there in between where I was like, Oh God, this is like a special person.
And I'm like obsessed with her, which I feel like I've never really been like, I'd never been like obsessed with someone in the way that I've always been with her.
And I think like we had, especially thinking about like later into our relationship around year five, we actually had a split, like we had a breakup.
And I think that was so important for us as a couple, because I think I certainly was in a position and I'm sure she was too.
It was like a similar thing where we were like, you know, are we the people for each other? Are we just like the only people we've been with? And like, how can we know? Like, I
Yeah.
And like, I was 23 at the time she was 24 or 24 and 25.
And, um, yeah.
And I'm grateful for it, but I think it was only whenever we got back to each other, it was like a short stint that we were separated anyway, of course.
But I think it was like, as soon as we got back to each other where it was like, all right, We're only doing this again and we're only like getting back into this and really committing to this long of a term of a relationship if it's like if we're getting married and if we're doing this all the way.
And so we were both really intentional about our time in that way.
And so I'd say like that.
I think it's important to have those like hard times.
