Goodly day, and a very warm welcome to Folklands, a podcast celebrating and exploring Britain's colourful and vibrant folklore and customs in its many incarnations.
My name's Justin Chubb, and on today's episode, my fellow Folklander Tim Downey and I are whisking you back to a frosty night at the start of the year, on an expedition to a picture postcard village in Hampshire to join in the ancient customs of wassailing, a cheerful tonic against the cold dark nights of winter and an excuse for a cheeky drink or two.
So without further ado, let's wind back the clock to the evening of the 9th of January 2026 as we set forth in search of fire, alcohol, dance and merriment.
