We are happy to bring you a special episode today! A Blades in the Dark One-shot Our very own Ryan, Sean and Jon, joined by special guests Caleb and Chaz from the Make Believe Heroes Podcast, sat…
I spent a little bit of time writing this down, so here we go.
A thousand years ago...
Yes, chaos.
A thousand years ago was the cataclysm that blotted out the sun and spread its dying embers across the sky.
The gates to the afterlife slammed closed, and now ghosts rule the wastes of the dying world.
The city of Duskfall is one of the few places of safety from their terror, protected as it is by mighty lightning towers powered by marvelous electroplasm.
Inside is a metropolis of factories and refineries, the black soot and smoke slowly working its way into the hearts of the citizens.
It is a hive of scum and villainy, and it is said the only thing left that shines are the blades in the dark.
Yet still, the human spirit remains, unbound and unbroken.
There are still those who would love their brothers and sisters, tend to the helpless, and work for the betterment of the world.
Yuna was one of those lights in the dark.
You don't know how she kept the peace with the violent red sashes and the mob-like crow gangs constantly pushing up against the edges of your neighborhood.
But now, she is gone.
It's not a question of if the gangs will move in, but when.
So the neighborhood protector and leader and negotiator, she is gone.
It's up to you.
You can work together to kind of decide what happened to her.
Maybe that can kind of come up organically, but she's gone.
And so now the agreements that she had put into place to protect your little slice of property Duskvaal are null and void.
They're disappeared, and there are two not incredibly powerful factions, but definitely more powerful than you factions that are right next door, and they're going to be coming knocking soon.
You guys know this.
You are playing as characters that maybe are... not necessarily like the leaders of this part of neighborhood, but you've established yourself as competent enough that people tend to look to you.
This part of the city is called Char Hollow.
And more specifically, the neighborhood that you're in is called Dogtown.
And in Char Hollow, it's the sort of laborer district.
