Episode 500: (500) Days of Podcast / Bardstown Bourbon Company Lochs of Jura

For all the money that the podcast is springing in in our life.

You know, I...

I love this idea when you came up with it, because you kind of talked about maybe doing like a college football podcast.

You were going through that that like early white Midwest mid midlife crisis.

And you're like, we need to do a podcast.

So, you know, our area of expertise is like college football and movies.

And I loved that you brought it to me as like, hey, like you're not as experienced in the world of movies, but you love movies.

Let's do this together.

For me, having grown up watching a lot of Westerns with my dads, but also just a lot of old movies like Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World or Charade or all sorts of other things, along with movies were kind of my family's... thing growing up.

Like we just went to movies probably once or twice a month.

Like I remember seeing Casino Royale and walking out of the theater and being like, what in the world just happened? Like I thought that was the coolest movie in the world.

I remember going to see Secondhand Lions just with my grandma.

It was like 82 at the time.

And we she was like cackling in an empty theater on a Saturday morning.

And it's it's just like memory that's like imprinted upon my soul.

And so the idea of just watching tons and tons of movies was like appealing to me.

And here I am seven years later, and I've realized what the podcast has done for me has brought has like simultaneously broadened my appreciation for film and yet sharpened my appreciation for film.

Like, I mean, right now I have a criterion collection of bicycle thieves back here.

Like, you think I ever would have watched Bicycle Thieves on my own? Like, I didn't even watch it for the podcast.

We have not reviewed this movie for the podcast.

And yet here I am.

I watched it on my own one day and was like, this is one of my favorite movies I've ever seen.

Like, I need to have that in my collection.

I've got high and low up here.

Another Criterion Collection movie that I'm like, when we reviewed it, I think I gave it like an eight, eight and a half out of 10.
