#287- Aboulomania is stopping me from making decisions- Help!

So, Anna, again, thank you so much for this question.

This is something that I have also dealt with, and I'm willing to bet a lot of you out there have dealt with this too.

Decisions are hard for a lot of us, at least some of us.

I'll speak for myself.

They're hard for me.

I'll say they're hard for me at times because of all the reasons that you mentioned.

I also want the best possible outcome.

I also don't want negative consequences to my choices, right? I don't think anybody out there is saying, you know what? Given these two options, I'm going to choose for the worst one.

I know the outcomes of both.

I see the both options.

And you know what? I'll pick the one that's going to screw me over the most.

That's a good idea.

No one's doing that, Anna.

I'm not, you're not.

No one out there is doing that.

So we are all out there trying to make the best choices that we can.

So let me go into this a little bit.

So she even included a name for this.

So I would just call this difficulty making choices, but again, We don't know everything, and apparently there's a name for this.

Abulamania.

Abulamania? Abulamania? I've seen it pronounced.

I've heard it pronounced, rather, a couple of different ways.

Abulamania is what I'm going to say, and I'm probably not going to say it again for the rest of the episode.

But it includes severe indecisiveness affecting one's ability to function socially.

So it talks about kind of a fear of failure and a lack of confidence.
