BWB 012 - Grumpy Old Men

Here's the first question that I have for you.

And we talked probably for a half an hour before we hit record on this one about these types of situations.

But who's a player or two that you were completely wrong about with your projections for the start of the season?

So for me, I'm going to pick two hitters.

And these two hitters were actually my first two hitters out of the 15 slot in my TGFBI.

Oof.

yeah i'd say you know it's it's i'm doing well this year it's um jazz chisholm and kyle tucker and i i don't really understand why both have been really underwhelming um starting with jazz i mean he's still getting a lot of steals but the batting average and the home runs that they're not there this year um i mean he had 31 home runs last year but now the power's gone and he's he's hardly getting on base I don't know if he's hurt or not because he went through a lot last year, but he played through a lot of injuries as well.

Another interesting thing, too, is that he still has the same BABIP as he did last year.

Yeah, he

does.

Which is really weird.

But the underlying metrics suggest that he's really not playing that well.

So perhaps last year was more luck than anything.

Um, and with Kyle Tucker, um, two 34 batting average, six home runs and six steals.

That's not what you want from your first pick.

Um, the came

in $60 million too.

Well, I mean, yeah, he got paid.

So maybe that's all that matters right now, but he's striking out more, but it's nothing like big at all.

He's struggling against breaking pitches, but he's seeing fewer of those than ever than he did last year.

And he also has a similar Babbitt.

So I don't know.

Maybe he's just not elevating the ball.

I mean, the ground ball rate is up a little bit, but...

Overall, these two players have really killed my team this year, and it just goes to show, like, they say you can't win or lose your league in the first couple rounds, but you can really be put behind here because these two guys together have not even been combined like what you expect from one player in the first round.
