Financially Excelling - Episode 6: Anatomy of Money

I want to turn to, uh, I want you to turn with me to Deuteronomy 8:18.

I want tonight talk about the anatomy of money.

I am, I'm intrigued, interested, and bewildered that most people actually have no idea what money is all about.

Money is incredibly important.

The Bible says God gives some people the ability to create wealth to establish his covenant in the Earth.

Jesus told 38 parables about money.

Oh, sorry, 38 parables, 16 related to money, wealth, and possessions.

He spoke more about money than he did about heaven.

The Bible has 500 verses on prayer, less than 500 verses on faith, and over 2,350 verses on money and possessions.

Is money important? Ecclesiastes 7:12 says that money can become a defense.

I don't know if you've ever experienced that.

Money can get you out of a hole.

It can, it can buy you out of a situation.

It can help you to live a different kind of life.

In the Synoptic Gospels, one in four of the verses is about money.

The New Testament, one in six verses is about money.

Judas fell because of money.

Can you understand what I'm saying? Money is an incredibly important, integral part of the Bible, but somehow we have avoided some of that.

For us to understand the anatomy of money tonight, we need three financial skills.

We need the financial skill of literacy, we need the financial skill of competence, and we need the financial skill of responsibility.

These three skills, financial literacy, that is your understanding of what money is and how it works.

That's fundamentally important to live on the planet.

Financial competence means your ability to handle and use money to your advantage.

Financial responsibility, your ability to make sound, mature financial decisions and be accountable for those decisions.
