past?Oh, [laughs] yeah, I had, I had a huge play.
It was...
I was just playing, uh, kind of like a, uh, Grixis control shell.
Uh, and I was all warmed up.
I had a, a full grip of counter spells, including some of the more, like, really valuable ones, like Commandeer and Mindbreak Trap.
I was expecting them to try and do, uh, like a ruthless Technomancer, 'cause it's usually a little bit more difficult to interact with.
But th- just an absolute naked, uh, you know, Necropotence sprawled out on the sheets in front of me.
Uh, and it didn't occur to me that I was like, "Oh, I can just Commandeer this Necro and then pump 30 life into it, and then I can be the one winning." Instead, I was like, "Oh man, this is like a power- such a powerful spell.
I, I, I can't let Dardu have this." Uh, and it was so interesting to me the way that, like...
Um, uh, I'm, I'm not a... d- I, I'm not a very good Necro player.
It's still something I'm, I'm working on improving at as a cEDH player, but part of what I think is really important to be a good Necro player is flexibility and improvisation.
And, uh, to indicate my lack of improvisation, I wasn't even able to look at a handful of counter spells and be like, "This is gonna be the freest Born Upon a Wind of my life." And instead, I was like, "I can't let this resolve." [laughs]
[laughs]
Uh, and then, uh, instead of, like, getting this, like, huge burst of card advantage of being in, like, the dominant position at the table, uh, I just continued to a little bit too passively, a little bit too reactively interact with the table, and I just got outvalianed.
Uh, and then looking back, I was like, you know, what was one of the biggest, uh, pivot points I could've made in that game [laughs] to have won? And the, the Dardu player was like, "I mean, you definitely could've Commandeered my Necro.
It's kind of weird that you didn't." [laughs]
[laughs]
I was like, [laughs] "Face cake." [laughs] So that's fine, that's fine.
Yeah, that, that's, that's some poi- that, that's a classic.
I mean, sometimes you just get in your own head and, like, miss the line that might be there and just, uh...
Yeah, I, I definitely see where you're coming from.
Yah, do you got anything for us today?
Uh, yeah.
So, um, as some people know in my life, uh, that I play Magic with, I've been really high on Brigid lately.
