So how does God will to correct us, chasten us, purge us, clean us? You know, Paul was talking about the bride of Christ in Ephesians Chapter 5, and in verse 26 he talks about the washing of the water of the Word in our lives.

If I'm born again, if you're born again, you're righteous and made whole in your spirit, but I need my soul, my mind, my will, my emotions, my thoughts, my opinions, my unrenewed self and soulical side, I need it washed daily with the washing of the water of the Word.

Every branch in me that does not bear fruit He takes away, and every branch that bears fruit He prunes that it may bear more fruit." This is a natural reality and God gives us natural things to point to spiritual things, and the natural things many times unveil the spiritual things.

And He says, "Look, the branches that aren't bearing fruit..." He takes them away, and then he explains it, "I purge them." The King James Bible says, "Purge." The New King James Bible that I read says, "Prune." You have to prune a fruit tree in order for it to bear more or much fruit.

He says in verse three, "You are already clean because of the word which I've spoken to you.

As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me.

He who abides in me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without me you can do nothing." And the nothing in the context is bear fruit.

A- and so he purges or prunes our lives and then he says, "You're already clean through the word which I've spoken." So he used God's word interchangeably with pruning, with purging.
