With new EV grants announced earlier today, Paddy takes us through what it means for motorists. We've also test driven the new Cupra Raval, Honda Prelude and even been to Slane Castle to check out…
Ian TolandGuestThe story broke this morning at about 8:00, and it's all about the, the scrappage that has been announced.
And, and as, as we're recording is, is before cabinet.
What's going on?
It is.
Do you know what it is, Mark? 'Cause I get these texts in the morning at 7:00 from very n-
Yeah
... very nice researchers in radio stations, and they're like, "Eh, which...
Is there any chance you can come on now and just talk about this new scrappage scheme?" And I'm like, "Right, I haven't read this.
What is it?" So I have to quickly read it and learn it off, and there's nothing that sharpens the mind about facts and figures than knowing you're, uh, live on air in 25 minutes.

All scrappage schemes before were over 10, this is over 13 years of age.
And in addition to the €3,500 EV grant which you get already, there's another €5,000 of scrappage.
So-
Now, as soon as I saw a couple of guys at 9:00 this morning, they were hitting me with que- Uh, uh, an Inster was shoved under my nose on a phone.
Does that mean you can buy this car now for about 10 grand?
Well, the Inster would have the three and a half grand already off it, right? So that's...
So that, uh, I don't imagine it's gonna be an extra eight and a half grand off the already cheap Inster.
It'll be an extra five grand off the already cheap Inster, I would've thought.
