Damon gets to talk to Bryan about drumming, film scores, Connecticut, teaching, Rockwood Music Hall, Steel Pan, and so much more! There's also segments like gig alerts, music news, and others.
So the first segment up is happy birthday to friends of the show, starting with Terry Gibbs, who was episode 446, and he turned 102 today.
If your podcast app or whatever platform you're listening to doesn't go back to episode 13 or 16, you can always go listen on the website, which is also where the show notes are, discussionsinpercussion.com, as well as on SoundCloud, soundcloud.com/discussionsinpercussion.
Work, work, work, work, work, work.
To me, I be work, work, work, work, work, work.
First up for gig alerts, I mentioned last week that friend of the show, Jeffrey Barudin, episode 473, had posted some new graduate assistantships if you're looking to continue your schooling.
So if you're looking to audition for one of the groups that he has posted, you can go to his website and sign up for the alerts, which will come every couple of weeks.
But also, there will be hyperlinks that you can click on and apply for these jobs that he posted.
Next, Aerosmith and Friends is gonna be doing a two-day concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on October 29th and November the 1st, and some of the friends that will be joining them are Guns N' Roses, The Black Crows, Run DMC, Heart, and more.
I think it's called the Big Blues Bender, and that show isn't gonna happen until September 9th through 12th of 2027.
But tickets are now available if you are interested in locking those down and planning a whole Vegas trip.
Couple of friends that will be performing at this is, uh, Tyler Greenwell, also known as Falcon.
He was episode 43, and he'll be performing with the Tedeschi Trucks Band, as well as Josh Keegan, friend of the show, episode 253, will be performing with the group GA20.
John Mayer has announced new Sphere dates for Las Vegas that will be spanning through April, May, and now into June.
So if you are trying to get a ticket and you weren't able to get the first installment of dates, there are new ones up, and, uh, he's gonna have a full band.
