What follows are my thoughts or gut instincts on what the market is going to do.

Not masses to report this week, I mean there's been boats that have been bombed and sunk in international waters and the market's barely reacted to it, which is quite an interesting one.

But the market is holding, and I suppose you could argue, pardon the pun, that there is a game of Russian roulette being played by the farmer.

One of my trading competitors, if you like, came out with that phrase, and it's about right.

It doesn't seem likely, but then these things come out of the blue, don't they? So I suppose everyone has to have that in the back of their mind as someone trying to make a decision for people or trying to give people good advice.

But equally, the probability of Putin backing down on the basis of his historic behaviour doesn't look likely.

And I think he's up for giving the Ukrainians an awful winter because he likes that sort of thing.

It has finally rained, so we should see a sudden flurry of green fields coming through.

And at the moment, I would say it's been pretty good conditions to get going on.
