Blake GoceyHostShort answer, nope.
We went into launch with like 2,600 wish lists and a major depressive streak right before, right? So I'm thinking like, okay, we're not going to make anything.
Game's going to be a flop.
And it turned out to not be the case.
We got lucky.
So yeah, that was...
I'm very lucky on our part, is all I can say about that.

Yeah, I actually wanted to follow up kind of on this idea of sort of like obsessing over the numbers.

I had saw that before you launched, you had wrote that you were obsessively checking wishlist, Steam traffic, reviews, Reddit comments.

Yeah, take me into that time before you launched Click and Conquer, if you remember back.

Just, yeah, how was that for you mentally? I think that's part of game dev we don't really talk about enough, but it sounds like it was a little bit tough for you.
Yeah, at the time it was a little bit tough, I guess, but I don't know when you're new to it.
I think you get a little bit, you get a little more desensitized as like time goes on.
Right.
But at the beginning, yeah, like most devs will say, like, I'm always checking my wishlist.
They want to post about all the time and they just obsess over that number because we put so much emphasis on the number of wishlists.
Um, and I found like during that time, I really wasn't getting much productive stuff done and it really wasn't doing much good for my mental either.
Um, so I think like by the time launch rolled around, I kind of like decided to not look at the numbers for two or three days.
I can't remember the exact time, but when we launched, I wasn't like obsessively checking the, uh, revenue number until I think like Thorny messaged me and he was like, okay, like if you're not going to check it, like I'm going to tell you,
And while he didn't, I don't know if he had access to the number at the time, but he just had like the CCU and stuff.
And I was like, I don't want to look at any of the numbers.
Yeah.

Yeah, and Thornity being your partner that you made click and conquer with in case anyone hasn't caught wind of your story.
