In the second episode this month, Neil is joined by Jonny and Ben in a bumper episode to discuss their top ten Def Leppard guitar solos. You can find Ben's YouTube channel here…
oh geez uh very good question probably too many to be honest with you it's quite obsessive no i think I started doing a count when we got to the end of the self-titled album.
I started counting up how many videos there were.
I don't know if we got into 200s.
But there's been a couple more since with live versions and stuff like that.
But that is the end goal.
I'll get back around to it.
But no, I'm very, very pleased to be back on.
And yeah, I always have a lot of fun talking with you guys.
So I'm looking forward to talking about solos.
I mean, what better part of a song can you get for guitarists than a solo? Incredible.
That's one thing I was going to ask you, Ben.
I'll come to you in a second, Johnny, and ask you something similar.
Has being able to play these solos and knowing them influenced your choices in any way as compared to if you think maybe you weren't a guitarist and you didn't play them?
Definitely.
In fact, I've made a massive list.
I've made a few lists going through everything, like different categories of what I think... are the better solos what I've enjoyed to play.
I even have a top 10 list of, are you serious for some songs where for me, they've been redeemed by the solo.
Like I'm not necessarily into them and then learning it.
It's like, man, that's actually really fun to play.
So yeah, there's a certain element of learning them where I think you can appreciate them a bit more, but it'd be interesting to, to hear from another guitars like Johnny who can, you know, whack these things out as well.
Um, Certainly to that level.
And also to hear from you, Neil, for someone who listens maybe a bit more casually, but also with that analytical touch, what you would regard as a really good soul.
But yeah,
it certainly gives you a different different eye on it for sure.
