!Destroy and Doom Force Superhero comics have been parodied for as long as they’ve existed. This time Tim and Kumar look at two…
Um, okay.
So we wanted to do an episode, but you've been snowed under with work, so it had to be light prep, and you came up with a couple of books that I was not really aware of.
So explain what these are.
Uh-
And why, why you thought to pair them.
And I can kind of see-
Oh
... why, but.
Yeah.
Well, I initially, I don't know, I came up with...
So I kind of went over to my bookshelf.
I just looked through, rifled through.
I went online, like, best single issues of comics-
Hmm
... or just, like, one-off comics.
And, um, immediately what came to mind was Doom Force, uh, by Grant Morrison [laughs] from 1992, which is, I think, a totally hilarious comic that I keep recommending to people, uh, but can't get, really get many people to read it.
In fact, I, when I first discovered it, I bought, like, two more copies just so I could, like, give them away.
[laughs]
Um, so one time, I did own, like, three copies of this thing.
Um, and then as we were starting it, something reminded me or made me think, oh, we should do Scott McCloud's Destroy as well, which I think is a similar comic-
Mm-hmm
... uh, which, you know, as we'll talk about.
Yeah.
But from-
They're both pretty tongue in cheek.
Um, okay.
