The Business Behind Paris Fashion Week

So we're not going to be talking about all the fashion weeks.

We are only going to be talking about Paris.

And why is that? Well, in our opinion, and in my very humble opinion, Paris is definitely the best fashion week at the moment.

We have spent a lot of time there in the last few years.

Sadly, not this particular one.

But the city is, it's brought to life in a way you do not see in any other city.

I would say that every single person on the fashion circuit, and even if they're not on the fashion circuit, descend on Paris.

Behind every hotel suite door is some sort of lunch or showroom going on, you will have buyers from across the world that are there.

You will have every single fashion and jewelry brand under the sun and beauty brands as well hosting their own private parties, They will be hosting showrooms at the hotels, they'll be hosting cocktail parties, they'll be hosting pop-ups, you name it.

If people think that Fashion Week is about fashion shows, think again.

That is not the case and Paris is definitely leading the way here.

So, We, as I mentioned, it just finished yesterday.

It started on the 28th of September, finishes on the 6th of October.

And this year we saw 68 shows, 33 presentations, and Louis Vuitton closed the entire thing last night.

And weirdly, we actually only had two new designers this season.

We've had a huge, basically musical chairs situation or a big reshuffle.

in the fashion houses recently with loads of different creative directors moving around.

But this time we only actually had two new creative directors, one for Courrèges and the other one for Carvin.

So that's it on the shows and I'm not gonna dwell too much on who showed.

I think the only thing interesting to note here is that We have Margiela, they're back in Paris showing and they showed in Shanghai last year.

We had Valentino, they were in Rome last year, but now they're in Paris.

We also have Christopher Esper in Paris.

So it's not only the brands that you associate with French fashion.

Miu Miu are also showing in Paris.

And this year, Rabanne, they chose to sit this one out because they're waiting for Olivier Rousteing's new collection.
