Rewind: Location, Location, Location

A completely different sort of experience, which is actually the experience we're going to talk about today on Dear Sugar Radio, which is that kind of what if feeling that not I have roots down, but what if I planted my seed here? What would it be like? Which to me, I think, is symptomatic of how a lot of the essentially nomadic people.

Americans feel.

Where is my home? Where is the place that I set down roots? Of course, even 30 years ago and certainly 130 years ago, this isn't even a conversation.

You grow up in, you're rooted in community, in a family life, an extended family, and it's usually in one place.

Now we are all kind of whizzing around the country and sometimes even around the globe wondering, But feeling that ancient, I think, inborn species need of where is my home.

And I feel that powerfully.

And I even feel it in my body.

The

problem that I have now, Erin and I do not know where we should be.

Now we have all these kids.

We think about the West Coast all the time.

Right.

Well, you grew up on

the West Coast.

Right.

I grew up here.

We love Portland.

We have friends here.

We love this as a town.

It would be closer.

You guys

could live in my basement.

Correct.

You know there's a ping pong table down there.

I know.
