Is AI helping us feel more connected, or making us less willing to deal with the messiness of real human relationships? We’re joined by Dr. Melissa Perry to unpack what happens when we turn to AI to…
I think it's interesting and it's hard because I don't know, like for me, maybe it's my age, too.
But like AI, for whatever reason, it makes me think about all the consequences more.
And I am curious, and I think the verdict is still out what's going to happen.
Like, I know we can say, like, well, if I stop using it, like, does that actually do anything? But I don't know if you listen to, like, Ronny Chieng's, like, Harvard commencement speech, but he was basically, like, telling Harvard grads, like, your purpose is to stop AI.
So I do wonder if, like, enough people start to really, like, like backlash against it if things will change, or it might just be this force that we are moving with.
I think in the next year, it'll become more abundantly clear which direction we go.
I think in some instances, its value will continue to be demonstrated and its critical utility.
And at the same time, to blindly Swallow hook, line, and sinker is absolutely unrealistic, but the message is not to be driven by, but rather to be stewards of.
And I think that's the biggest takeaway of this whole conversation is that it is a nuanced conversation.
People should definitely re-listen to that part, especially of just like, what is the line where this doesn't feel good anymore? Or I'm losing the ability to connect and feel that, you know, sense of connection that I know brings me joy to another human being.
But But also, like, maybe there is a positive that I can start to organize my thoughts before I go into a heated conversation with my partner.
But I also know that, like, I can't just be like, well, this is what ChatGPT told me.
