Why The Earth Can't Be Billions Of Years Old

We are told that the Earth is billions of years old, and yet some people think that it can't be anywhere near that age and is only thousands of years old.

So what does the observable evidence say? And let's be real.

Why does knowing the age of the Earth even matter in day-to-day life at all? My name is Annalise Armstrong, and I am joined here today by Dr.

Mark Harwood.

Now, Mark, you are an engineer with a PhD specializing in the area of the design of communication satellites.

What qualifies you to speak about the age of the Earth and why does this subject even matter?

Well, I think engineers are eminently qualified to talk about these things because engineers are particularly practical.

We look at the real world around us.

We make measurements and observations and logical deductions, and we make things which haven't existed before.

So we do things in a logical way.

Now, what we're looking at today will be evidence for the age of the Earth, and I'm going to make some logical deductions from those evidences.

But, you know, it's not really valid to claim that something can be dismissed because of the person who makes the argument, because every argument should stand on its own merits.

It's not a question of who makes the argument, but is the argument sound? And I think the things that we're going to present today will be sound arguments.
