CORE Supplemental: Jon and the King

And why am I thinking about Burger King? Because Burger King used to be, not even that long ago, the restaurant you went by and you were like, man...

How the mighty have fallen.

I don't think you could pay me to eat there.

And an interesting thing happened.

Burger King agreed.

They said, yep.

we kind of suck and we need to do better.

And they put out a real self-effacing ad that they were going to change things.

And they debuted the new Whopper, which instead of being a gimmick was just, Hey, we're going to make the Whopper except now it's going to be good.

We're going to use better ingredients.

We're going to put more attention into this.

We're going to actually try.

And you know what? It worked.

In the market of fast food burgers, Burger King is on its way up.

Meanwhile, others are on the way down.

McDonald's, who has been, ironically, the king in the market, is trying to figure out how they can charge people less.

And we'll see how that works out for them.

I mean, truthfully, in this current economy, charging less is a really good way to go.

But people also want, and I know this sounds like it goes against itself, better food, even from fast food.

And Burger King has proven that.

You've got other restaurants like Wendy's that are declaring bankruptcy and struggling to hang on and trying to figure out what on earth can we do? Meanwhile, the king is putting back on the crown.
