We said what everyone's afraid to say — some of y'all don't have a sourcing problem, you have a listing problem. 👀 Today we're breaking down where 'smart inventory' turns into 'garage graveyard,'…
So, and, and as we know through past episodes, I've done estates myself, but I typically stick with that for family or extended family.
Um, and I'm probably not doing it right.
And this all goes into this whole episode today because, um, what i always tell family members if they come to me with these kind of things is yes i'm willing to do it you know the general rule you trust that if if i'm not going to list it i will donate it somewhere appropriately um that but my other thing is that i will get it all listed but there's no time limit as to when i get it listed and that's because of me um it's not a good way to run a business i'm going to say that point blank out there to everybody i personally don't want the guidelines of i have to get all this stuff done within two weeks and get it listed i don't want that when i'm taking a big estate i want to be able to kind of do it and some things just the pritchett estate if you haven't watched that video great video i think that's still on through my clip and our other channel but yeah i still have some items in that estate that have not been listed and that's been well over a year ago but i they understand that they will get paid out as it gets listed over time is that a mistake heck yes it's a mistake i should not do that i'm going to tell you right now
i would say that most of my consignors honestly don't care when things are listed but i put that expectation out so that i have a timeline for because i'm a procrastinator so even though my our consignors are essentially the same they're no longer storing these items they're trusting you to do it they're trusting me to do it They're fine with that.
They don't care if it went from their garage to my garage and it now sits.
It's out of their garage.
They don't care.
It's going somewhere eventually.
It's going to be fine.
But I let them know that it will be listed in like four to six weeks so that I get stuff listed in four to six weeks.
Otherwise, I won't.
Yeah, correct.
And that's where I
point.
Yeah, that's where I make the mistake.
Because as you know, I don't like to be told what to do.
Molly likes to do things on Molly's time.
Yes, we've talked about this.
I'm a psychiatrist could psychologist could have a heyday on that.
I'm sure back for whatever my childhood was.
created this monster.
But I feel like if I take it with no guidelines, I do it when I want to do it.
And then I find the joy in it.
But it's not because we also know for me, I'm a deadline kind of girl.
And if I know that Samantha and Libby need me to get X done by this week, I'm going to get it done by that date.
