So a diagnosis like that can often feel like, oh my goodness, there's no way out of them.
And then as your conventional, as you know, you said your mom said, Being in nursing, often we're just surrounded by that, and so we think that that is all there is.
But for somebody who's hearing that term, functional medicine, for the first time, how would you explain that to them in sort of an everyday language that they could get curious about?

So I would say functional medicine in everyday language is they look for the why.

They're not looking on the surface level every time just to say, okay, what's the symptom and how can we suppress the symptom so that you feel some better? Functional medicine is looking for that root cause.

So if you're having... issues in your gut or issues in that small intestinal tract, where did it start? Did it really start there or did it start somewhere else? Because they're looking at you from a whole person perspective.
