117. Chris O'Hara on Horror, Translating Foreign Comics and THE RED BOX

[laughs] So, I mean, as I've mentioned previously, I like to g- I go hunting very often for artists.

Uh, it's like the, The Most Dangerous Game, that old book.

Um, so I'm trying to find...

I'm always looking for new artists, different stuff that catches my eye, stuff that looks original or, or, um, you know, eye-catching in some way, something I haven't really seen before.

And I came across this, this guy, this...

Hey, and, uh, this Brazilian.

I know that's a shock to everyone who has seen me on this show before, but I just for some weird reason [laughs] am attracted to Brazilian artists.

Uh, but I found the Brazilian guy named Marlon Denes.

Uh, forgive me if I mispronounce your name.

I, I always, uh, mispronounce it.

But he, uh, he is a pretty well-known artist in Brazil.

Um, he has a pretty large following.

He's very talented.

Uh, he's done some really cool stuff in the comic space.

Um, and right now...

Or, and then when I, when I discovered him, I saw he had an anthology coming out called The Red Box.

Now, obviously it was in Portuguese.

Um, the, like, logo was...

Or, or, sorry, the font on the book was in Portuguese.

Uh, I was, like, flipping through some of the pages 'cause he had a preview up, obviously all in Portuguese, but, but the art is just really captured me.

It was something that I was like, "Oh, this is sick." I love what he put together.

It's a, it's obviously a horror anthology.

Pretty large horror anthology.

Uh, it's about 160 pages.

Um, I believe 12 different artists, uh, came together for 12 different stories.
