Australia has one of the world's fastest-moving electricity systems. It leads the world in rooftop solar, has deployed grid-scale batteries at extraordinary speed, and is now starting to replace its…

So I think, and maybe if we, um, go back to, to, uh, you know, um, over the last, say, 20-odd years in the, in the reform price or the post-reform era, um, we had a power system that was, it was low cost, uh, 92% coal-fired.

I mean, I mean, by, by any measure, I think that made the east coast of Australia the most coal-intensive power system in the world.

It also meant, of course, if you're going down that path of cleaning up, you've, uh, you've got the, the toughest job in the world to, to do so.

We haven't commissioned any new coal plant for, for, uh, for a couple of decades now.

Um, there's a couple of interesting characteristics about the Australian market.

Um, i- in the state that where I come from, in, in Queensland, uh, on detached homes, more than 50% actually have a rooftop solar system.

Uh, and, uh, if you swing round to South Australia, the numbers are very similar.

Sec- secondly, uh, we've had a very fast-moving utility scale market as well.

So, um, you know, for... we went from a power system with 92% coal market share.

It's, it's, you know, less than, you know, so it's in the 50s now, so 44% renewables, uh, as we stand here today, um, driven by a combination of utility scale wind, um, and, and solar and of course rooftop.
Uh, let's just slow there for a second to tap the brakes there co- for the audience.
