Christine White is the Chief Programs Officer for National FFA Listen to Circle City Success Podcast episode 240 where you'll hear Christine tell us about... ● She grew up on a 400 acre fruit…
So you just mentioned a minute ago when we were speaking about working in the school in Philadelphia, and then you said that you went to Florida after that, right? I think I caught that you said at that school in Florida, did they own animals at the school or...
So we had a chapter steer that we had a young person who was raising that with the help of the rest of the school members.
So we were learning how to, the animal nutrition, take care of the welfare, looking at all those pieces.
Obviously the show was terminal, so that animal went on to be burgers and steaks and all the other things that we were able to enjoy later on.
And so a girl raised in a very production agriculture, fruit and vegetable, taking that very first time figuring out how to work with animals was it was pretty interesting for me it was kind of one of those pieces I was learning just enough to be ahead of my students by a little bit but I also was very recognized that some of them had more experience and knowledge than I did and so I got to learn from my kids just as well
is it common that schools have like I can't remember what the term that you said was for where the animals are at the school
Yeah, so a lot of schools across the country do have livestock facilities, and so they may have different pieces related to that.
That was one of the other pieces that I spent time learning how to weld just right before my students.
So I was being able to do some things, and so there was a way to do some things.
So yeah, most of the facilities and most of the chapters or ag programs across the country do have some type of facility based on, some of them even have food science labs because they're doing food science and things like that.
you know?
up they did.
