The Psychedelic Experience...on Purim

Do you have a question for me, Shira? Because next week is Purim and I am sensing that you have a Purim-related question.

Of course I do, Hannah, because as you know, Purim is... probably one of my top three favorite Jewish holidays.

So are you typically someone who dresses up on Purim? No, no.

Okay.

So I had a feeling that was going to be your answer.

So I need you to imagine that you are, okay? Yes.

Because on Purim, you are, a person is supposed to dress up as their shadow self, like the part of themselves that they don't reveal the rest of the year.

What an

amazing idea.

Yes, because Purim is all about revealing the hidden.

And the beauty of Purim is that on Purim, the way that we reveal the hidden is actually by wearing a costume that hides us.

It's like this, like, it's this amazing sort of layering on of meaning.

So here's my question.

2026, Hannah is dressing up for Purim.

What are you going to wear?

Wow.

I'm thinking about the episode we did last year with Rabbi Amichai, which was so profound.

We got so many letters about it.

It really affected me.

You know, it was this sort of queer interpretation of Purim.

So I wonder if I have an alter ego who's like mega gay, like a super gay presenting person.

That might be my alter ego.

Yeah.

Maybe this is your year.

You still have a few days before Purim.
