Matthew 6:12. Forgive us our debts | David Todd | 260816 | Teach us to pray

Uh, boys and girls, uh, one of the, one of the really amazing things about getting to know God is that He wants us to speak to Him.

It really is an amazing thing to, to pray.

And all through the summer, we've been looking at this prayer that Jesus taught His friends, and it really is marvelous.

I don't know if you've noticed, uh, uh, if you've been here over these past few weeks.

In some ways, the, the prayer has two halves.

In the first half, it's all about, well, the first half i- is all about learning to put God first.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.

Your name's special.

Your kingdom come.

We, we want to be involved in your plans, and your will be done.

We really want to do things your way, putting God f- first.

The second half, when you read it, you begin to understand, uh, Jesus is speaking about helping us learn to live a life that depends on God.

So Jesus not only gives us words to say, He's teaching us how to live.

Putting God first a- and learning to depend on Him.

In that second half, there's all sorts of things.

Our daily bread, the things that we need every day.

And lead us not into temptation.

Guide us and, and protect us.

And this morning, we're thinking about verse 12 and our need of forgiveness.
