So fingerprints are really cool, obviously, but what they are, they're just impressions of, they're called friction ridges, um, on the tip of your finger.

So if you look at your finger, you'll see, like, a nice impressed swirly pattern.

So I think a lot of people might know that there are three different main types of fingerprints, right? Loop, arch, and whorl.

Um, but what makes up those patterns is those friction ridges, those swirly lines.

So what you kinda might not be able to see by just looking at your fingerprints, um, they're called minutiae, so they're tiny little details that are unique to each person.

So maybe you have, like, a tiny, like, your friction ridge breaks, so there's these little dot.

It could be islands, a dot with, like, some friction ridges around it, right? Um, there could be a bunch of different ones, and the way that those look on your fingerprint is what makes them unique to you.
