Now, a question for Devin Booker heading into the season is, can Booker still bend a playoff series like a true number one option? Or is he now just the cleanest elite scorer that's in that second option range? Now, we haven't seen Den Booker take over a playoff series since probably about 2023 in that first round against the Clippers.
And the one reason for me why he isn't top 10 is Den Booker just can't self-create the most efficient shots continuously.
When you talk about the most efficient shots...
It's wide open threes or it's rim pressure and your ability to attack out of the post.
And I just don't think Devin Booker, like he's anywhere close to the same guys above him here.
In terms of just creating, again, the rim pressure drives, the back downs, physical push-ups, push-offs in tough playoff environments.
He just can't really manufacture the same quality of physically pressuring looks.
Again, those kickouts, they're not super valuable either.
It's like a driving kick guy creating those spot-up threes.
And, look, he did have a great year.
But for me, as a scorer, as a number one option when you rely purely on a tough shot diet and your efficiency is pretty mediocre, especially compared to your typical all-star standard, I just can't have you that high.
And...
You know, last year, 26-4-6 last season.
Like, still really great production.
And this is on a playoff team as well.
But 51% effective field goal percentage.
That's the lowest since 2017-18 for him.
and obviously in isolation this dude's still elite 83rd percentile again he still gets five points a game in transition the pick and roll metrics are still fine I'd like to be your number one option but in terms of just aggregate efficiency as someone who is really just of that scorers archetype mold now I'm someone that believes Denver can be a real offensive engine in this league creating team offense but The efficiency has to jump up a bit more if we want to see him in a playoff context as a number one option once again.
Spot up portability, this dude, the reason why I have him still top 20 though is you can chuck him to really any unit and he'll be either your number one or your number two option and you could probably still make the playoffs.
If he's your number two, you can probably win the title.
So that's the point.
He's one of the best off-ball superstars, if you call him a superstar, one of the best off-ball all-stars in the NBA.
This dude was 38% on catch-and-shoot threes last year amidst what was a bad pull-ups shooting season.
