Mark 6:1-29 - The Rejection of Jesus, sent under the authority of Jesus, the death of a prophet.

This is where he grew up while he was here on this earth, a place called Nazareth.

Now, Nazareth, I know, obviously, is a very popular tourist destination.

You can go on one of those Bible tours if you like.

But back then, it wasn't one of those things that you had on a bucket list, you know? Nazareth, I've got to go visit there.

There was a joke that went around.

It's in the New Testament.

Can anything good come out of Nazareth? You know, it's like saying, can anything come out of Kilsithe, right? He's on this mission.

Things have changed.

Jesus has been proclaiming and declaring the kingdom of God is at hand.

There's healing happening.

There's deliverance.

There's amazing, powerful pictures of who Jesus is and how the kingdom is invading.

And now, by this time, he's got disciples who are following him.

He's a rabbi.

He's a teacher.

And they're learning and listening and watching.

He's no longer as Jesus of Nazareth.

So, he comes home and so he comes this time, but this time he goes straight away to teach.

He goes to the local synagogue, which was part of the time that was what was going on.

And this synagogue is something that's very familiar to him and as he grew up in that town.

So, he goes there to teach.

He's no longer just there listening as an audience, he is a teacher.

Now, one would wonder perhaps, you know, Jesus returns.

Can you imagine the scene? And they turn around and go, oh, look, it's Jesus.

Remember him? I remember him running around here.
