Episode 87: Two Outta Three Ain't Bad

No commercial break this week.

Caitlin, what are we thinking about for the Mint Mix?

So I actually got a few suggestions from people for the Mint Mix this week, which I always appreciate.

So I will read those first, and then I'll give my pick.

So the first couple songs I have, Brandon Condra sent me these after racing's gutsy win over Angel City.

So he sent me Ain't No Grave, Gonna Hold This Body Down by Johnny Cash

and

Metallica, Shoot Me Again.

Nice.

interesting interesting choices i love the diversity um but yeah those are songs about you know not you know not giving up uh just stay in the course and yeah i think they were appropriate after that performance so thanks for sending me that uh brandon and then the next song i have was sent by one michael shaw after the uh after racing's win over chicago on saturday He sent in the song Grooveline by Heatwave.

Okay.

And he said it's in honor of the Six Points won in the Disco Kits last week.

So this is, you know, kind of a groovy disco song.

I want to read just a little bit what he said about it.

He said it's a great disco funk classic, but...

So the lyrics that he sent over are leave leave your worries behind because rain shine.

Don't mind.

We're riding on the groove line tonight.

So it kind of has this like carefree tone in the first part of the song.

But during the outro, there's a minor key counter melody played over top of it that makes it sound melancholy.

This is the level of music nerd-ness that I love.

So thank you, Michael, for sending this.

He says that he thinks about this song a lot in terms of racing season.

Like the song is about having fun in the moment while knowing that most joy is fleeting.

Jeez, Michael.
