When the Christian church was born, we're part of that Christian church, we have to go back and keep looking at how things were in the Bible and not go by current modern trends, because many times modern trends are good, communications have good ideas, good things to use, but they can easily get away from the original intention of God for the Christian church.

especially when it comes to how are we to accomplish what he called us to do.

He called us to do what's called the work of the Lord, and the work of the Lord is two prongs.

The work of the Lord, and many facets, but main two prongs.

Number one, to spread the gospel so people can get converted.

All in favor say aye.

That's the number one thing.

Jesus said go into all the world and preach the gospel.

So whether it's Murphysboro or Brooklyn or wherever or you're watching, we have to spread the gospel.

It's harvest time.

The angels don't rejoice when we have a good meeting.

The angels don't rejoice when we have a good Bible study.

The angels rejoice when one sinner repents.

Whether it's in the Middle East or whether it's in a camp for the children.

But to do that, we need power.

And power only belongs to one person in the Godhead, and that is the Holy Spirit.

Merit, acceptance with God, comes through Jesus only.

But power belongs to the Holy Spirit.

So Jesus had told them, you'll receive power The other facet, the other prong of the work of the Lord is developing Christians.

Once they get saved, now how do you develop them, mature them, help them, counsel them, pray with them, console them, comfort them.

They lose a loved one.

They have a wayward child.

We have to walk with each other, amen, and help us through this.

So that's the work of the Lord.

Whether you're a pastor or you're going to the camp, or whoever you are in the choir, whatever, that's the work of the Lord is mainly.

It involves prayer, it involves giving, it involves missions, it involves a lot of things.

So when the church was born, Jesus told them in Acts 1, all right, I'm going to leave now.

He had been appearing to them off and on for a period of about 40 days.

That's what the father has put in his own plans.

That's a good lesson for all of us.

Don't be guessing who's this, what's that, and Israel and the Russia, and no, it's the Muslims, it's this, it's China, it's that.

Your business is this.

Go to Jerusalem and wait until the Holy Spirit comes upon you.

And you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.
