This is a look back at a year of writing the Mike Kim Letter every Tuesday, for one straight year. I talk about my inner creative, buried for a decade under writing for conversions, the daydream that…
About two years ago, I had a picture in my mind's eye that was talking to a group of people at a retreat saying, quote, like back in my 40s, I was very busy and up to my eyeballs in marketing work.
This wasn't some like heavenly revelation like, the light of heaven knocking me off a horse or something like that.
And I don't know, it triggers like access to some apparent hidden part of my psyche.
I guess I encounter it through the 10 out of 10 pain that I experienced during a deep tissue massage, but I love it.
And experience has taught me that when you get an idea like that, no matter how it comes, you should act within the lifetime of that idea, which is usually very short or it tends to die out.
So I bought a domain a couple of years ago, which I've never used as a sign of simply honoring that prompting.
Now, I have no idea how this is all going to pan out, but I have decided I'm going to be a writer.
And some might say, well, haven't you written books? Aren't you already a writer? Aren't you already an author? But conversions and algorithms and hooks, they just don't feel like a writer to me.
And if I want to make money, this may be the worst time to commit to being a writer.
But if I want to have a real connected life with myself and with other humans, this may be the best time to be a writer.
