Um, it actually, again, was not planned so much of, well, everything that has happened the last 10 years, like was not supposed to happen to me.

I thought by 50 years old, I'd be, you know, a school superintendent somewhere.

Um, but it's crazy how circumstances of life like push you toward a new destiny.

audibly heard the Lord call me home to Louisiana and I argued and I fought it and I didn't want to do it but ultimately I had come up to Mendon Louisiana which is about 30 minutes away from where my parents live and saw this broken-down cottage and And I knew that I knew that I knew that it was supposed to be mine.

And so I, you know, renovated houses and built the house when I was married, but I had never done anything of this magnitude, especially by myself.

And so went on this 22 month journey to basically convince the owners to sell this house to me.

And so the long and short of it is, is that I started simply Southern cottage to simply document the process for the good people of Minden, you know, who were very intrigued by this house who nobody else could buy.

And it has turned into a full blown like marketing agency and multiple properties and This sounds like very braggadocious, but I've been on HGTV and Magnolia Network and have been on magazines and, you know, never would have happened had I not leaned into that plan that Laurel and I wrote together.
And I've interviewed a lot of entrepreneurs and met a lot of entrepreneurs and even people in real estate who have done quite what you've done in such a unique way.
And I mean it when I say it's beautiful, too, right? Like what you are restoring.
preserving the past and bringing it to the future instead of just like bulldozing and moving forward.
