Share with us for just a moment, as far as the physiological benefits or how we are created to be able to do that, that you have found out in writing a book on our daily breath.

I know I was just thinking, what happens when we get stressed or anxious? Our breath shortens.

Like, you know, you talk about people hyperventilating, but then when there are these long intentional breathing in and my naturopath, I mean, there has to be something about this because he was like, I need you to really intentionally breathe.

It is impossible for your body to be stressed when you are pushing that breath out of your mouth and you need to be doing that.

I think it would be really interesting for you to kind of share with us what have you found out from a medical standpoint as far as how this benefits us?

there's so much research out there on mindful breathing, of breath work, and it's not necessarily coming from a faith perspective.

But for me, I think everything is connected to faith, right? I read so many studies, so many articles, research from Mayo Clinic and different university settings, and the studies all confirm that when we are mindful with our breathing, we're When we really take a couple minutes, just a couple minutes, to mindfully inhale through our nose, hold the breath for a few seconds, and then just slowly release that breath through our mouth.

For me, it's praying alongside that, right? But even for those of us who are not coming from a perspective of faith, it shows that we are lowering our stress hormone, cortisol.

We can lower our blood pressure, right? that is measurable we can lower our heart rate just like you were saying amy when we're stressed we start to have these shallow fast breaths and that's because our body doesn't feel safe right but when we are mindful of our breath when we remember that we are safe in the arms of our creator when we are taking this deep breaths in and deep breaths out it's like we're resetting our nervous system it's like we're resetting our bodies i have a son that has a chronic illness and can often have a lot of pain deep breathing does not take away the chronic illness But there are studies that show that it can even help with chronic pain.

And so it's really incredible because for me, I feel like prayer can alleviate kind of a soul pain sometimes when I spend time with God.

He's just doing this journalistic deep dive into our breathing and talking with all of these experts.

And they found that when people were in a state of prayerfulness, they tended to breathe at a rate of about 5.5 to

And they found that that is the peak number of breaths you should take for all of that physical improvement, right? So that's slowing down a lot.
