Dr. Brook Sheehan sits down with Cassandra McKenney, a fitness coach and registered nurse whose fourteen-year health journey took her from a controlled, obsessive relationship with food and exercise…
Cassandra McKenneyGuestBrook SheehanHostoff praise god what a testimony testifying of the goodness of what life looked like 12 years of trying and striving and optimizing for what to find yourself at the end of yourself And then in the last two years to bring him into the equation and recognizing that it isn't what it's all about, like getting your glutes and getting skinny and getting muscular and it's so good.
And I don't want to dismiss this point because I do believe that some people, especially as believers, we're told we need to steward our bodies well.
And if you're listening to this today, we've just come off the pullback side of the entire month of August talking about body theology and how we've turned this whole health and wellness game into idolization.
So thank you so much for sharing that because it is what this culture has become.
You can steward your body well, but not when it circumvents or not when it replaces God on the throne and you put yourself there.

I think one of the biggest things I've realized too is the enemy loves to use our fitness as a weapon.

And one thing I've noticed is that so many women are on either one end of the spectrum.

So they're either restricting, they're overexercising, they're taking their fitness to the extremes.

And so it's really about using the scriptures to guide you and to hear God's voice and where the conviction is to find a middle ground.

Because any form of extreme is not what God calls us to because then it becomes an idol in either direction.

And so I've really learned to find that middle ground and help my clients do the same.

So it's not like... your fitness and your workouts and your diet becomes your entire life you can also enjoy fun foods and eat them in moderation but not let it be a situation of gluttony where you're eating past satiation until you feel sick and you're not moving your body in a way that honors or glorifies god so it's been really helpful to come back to the center of it when you put jesus at the center it keeps you centered in a middle ground which is the healthiest place that i believe you can be
