Is God reluctant to forgive—or have we misunderstood Him? In this episode of Between Sundays, Neil explores several encounters in the life of Jesus that reveal a God who is compassionate, gracious…

Today, I wanna take a look at how Jesus interacts with three different people in scripture.

We're gonna confront the religious barriers that make forgiveness feel difficult to receive, and my hope is that you'll discover a God who is far more eager to forgive than we have often believed.

Psalm 103's beginning in verse eight says this: "The Lord is compassionate and gracious.

He's not dealt with us according to our sins, nor rewarded us according to our in- our iniquities." Or as Psalm 130:3 says, "If you should keep record of our iniquities, O Lord, who could stand?" Verse 11, "For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him.

As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.

As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.

For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are but dust." Do you believe this about God? Do you believe that He is a compassionate father, that He's gracious, that He's slow to anger, that He's abounding in mercy? Do you believe that He doesn't deal with you according to your sins, nor reward you according to your iniquities? Do you believe that He removes sin from the sinner as far as the east is from the west? Do you believe with the psalmist, according to Psalm 25:8, that He actually shows sinners the way? You see, religion wants to convince you how eager God is to condemn.
