Downing Street says RAF Fairford is safe despite American bombers pulling out after new security concerns.
It follows the arrest of six people over the past week in connection with a suspected terror plot targeting the Gloucestershire base.
Our reporter Alex Lane-Kilterker is in Fairford speaking to those living near the base.
People here tell me it's been a strange time since the suspected terror attack in late September.
But with the planes that once lined the runways nearby now back at their home stations in the US, they are not at all shocked about the recent events that took place on the edge of this small Gloucestershire town.
Well I'm surprised they're gone because I thought Trump had a master plan but well I don't think it's anything to do with the terrorism threat.
It's out of our control.
It's only about time something else is going to happen.
Obviously we might have to go to another airbase, you don't know.
Locals here in Fairford have also expressed their feelings on the constant overhead noise from the aircraft.
We're used to a certain amount of noise and you do stop hearing it after a while but the B1s, they are very loud, it's quite invasive.
It's plain.
It's loud.
It is what it is.
There's nothing you can do about it.
I don't know why people complain.
Like, there's nothing you can do.
When asked directly earlier today if the base was safe, the Prime Minister's spokesman simply said yes.
For now, people here are left waiting to see what the coming weeks will bring and whether those promises of safety will be enough to settle nerves.
