Glen, Tyler and Kevin discuss the LA Clipper verdict, as well as how the Hawks are going to whittle the roster from 17 down to 15.
Kevin ChouinardHostWell, one is a. I mean, like, Pablo's been on this beat for, like, over a year now.
So, you know, I'm happy for them that people are off his back because he practiced actual journalism.
Like, too much fan, like, too much stan culture or, like, fan culture where it's like, hey, nothing bad ever happens to people.
So, why is Pablo on this story? But it's like, it's a pretty good corruption story.
It shows how if an entity or a person goes rogue, they can't cheat the system, but it's important that third parties like journalists investigate that to make sure so that the public can know that something bad has happened and then ultimately consequences can arise from that.
Also, I'm just befuddled by the sheer arrogance of Steve Ballmer thinking he could cheat 29 other billionaires, you know, just flagrantly cheat the system.
And they, they almost like they, those Clippers teams were good enough to win a title.
But like he could have won multiple championships, just flagrantly cheating because that's, that's what they did.
Like they, they, clearly circumvent salary cap to gain a competitive advantage over the 29 other teams in a way that showed that they really didn't care that they were cheating.
The amount of money Kawhi was getting off the books for no-show deals is pretty much unheard of.
um but we'll see uh we'll see if there's going to be more action because i'm i'm pretty sure there's almost certainly going to be more that comes out that's that's what that's the kind of my biggest takeaway as well from the report um is that you know they they only found four you know violations of of cap circumvention but they they they have evidence that there's more they just cut the investigation after a year because it's like all right we kind of proved the point that you know you know they're just paying quiet an obscene amount of money under the table.
And then on the other side of it, I ran a legal services platform for a long time for Thompson Reuters.
