Jeffrey McEachern is one of the most magnetic voices in the running world — but the version of him you see on the Peloton Tread today is a very different person than the one who laced up his shoes on…
Jeffrey McEachernGuestMikeHostSo here's what's been on my mind for the week.
I have had a lot of things happen in my life over the last, over this year, actually, since I really started to take content creation and things like that very seriously, take my coaching very seriously, get my certifications, really start honing in and working with athletes to help them become better runners.
And I've had the absolute honor and privilege of being accepted to be a coach for New York Roadrunners with Team for Kids.
And it's been one of my legitimate dreams since I ran my first marathon with them in 2021.
I just, in the back of my mind, I just kept telling myself, I want to work with them.
I want to support a company that I believe so strongly in.
And what actually started the whole process was someone on this podcast, actually.
I spoke with them, found out they were a coach and asked them how they were able to make it work, how they were able to become one and kind of took off from there.
And I was persistent as much as I could.
And I'm really happy it paid off.
I had actually my first session as a coach this week, and it went really well.
I had a lot of fun.
It poured the entire time.
We did hills over and over again, hill repeats.
And it was incredible.
We finished the training run, and we were just completely drenched, had the toe.
But we all had fun, and we all supported each other.
As we were running and as we were doing some of these hill repeats, I was able to work individually during the running with some folks that I just wanted to provide a little bit of support for.
And it felt great.
You know, I love being a coach.
It's probably one of the greatest things that I've ever taken up in my life.
I feel it's so rewarding and it's indescribable to explain what it's like to see people start at one level and progress to another level that they didn't think they were capable of.
Now, I've seen people that I've trained run their first marathon, their first half marathon.
I've seen people come back into running after taking extended periods of time off.
