Chris Madden's agency hit 1 billion views in 3 years. He breaks down why AI clipping tools still fail at the most important part of short-form video, how he cloned his voice and now ships content…
Galina FendikevichHostThe AI clip apps like Opus Clip, Riverside has their own clip clipping tool, Descript.
There's a lot of tools out there that help you identify and make quick clips and it's gotten a lot better.
And for people that don't have a lot of time or don't have a lot of money, it's, it's a good option because the conclusion is that you need clips that, you know, we're recording a 40 minute conversation.
Most people don't, But the highlights of the conversation, they can have time for a minute of your time, the best parts.
And then maybe they consider checking us out, checking out the full conversation.
The software, the problem with these AI clip apps, tools is that they're not great at the hooks.
Really what we're doing with every clip that we make is the beginning has to draw people in.
And if people don't know the context of the clip within the first three seconds, they're going to swipe away.
And so it's really important to be able to add the context of who the speaker is, what they're talking about in a hook like above the head of the speaker if they're not saying a hook as the opening line.
And even if they're saying the hook is the opening line, you want to get in name tags, you want to get in some B-roll to catch attention.
And having that human ingenuity and creativity and thought, and then having an editor do it in Premiere Pro or CapCut manually is the way that we do things because It's just it's it makes better clips.
It makes better hooks, better chance that people are going to watch through versus a lot of people are just putting out these clips and it's a talking head with captions going right away.
And if you miss the first first second or first two, then you're like lost already.
Yeah, which is surprising because you would think that the way LLMs work is they have the entire corpus of the world's data, which includes best practices for clipping and hooking and all of that stuff.
And what these tools have supposedly done is taken all of those best practices in a curated context to apply to whatever video is being uploaded.
And so, voila, you're supposed to have the best produced video clips at the end of the day, but yet it's still not there.
And I find myself, I was going through so many iterations and rewriting hooks on top of the head and all of this.
