If there is one apple that I am surprised isn’t available in grocery store across the country, it has to be the Crimson Crisp apple. This very firm, tart, but with some sweetness, pretty red apple…

The parents of this apple variety are just two kind of unnamed apple varieties that were used in the breeding programs.

And some of the ancestors of this apple is believed to be Golden Delicious, Jonathan, and Rome.

And then in 1979, they picked out the best selections of them to continue to propagate the variety.

So imagine that this whole process started back in the 70s, and then it wasn't until more recently that the Apple actually came out.

So that tells you how many years sometimes can go into bringing a new apple variety to the public.

I've seen some that have been short times, but it is definitely a long period of time.

It takes time to, when you're creating new apple varieties, it takes time for those trees to grow and to fruit.

Oftentimes it can take around, average around five years for an apple tree to start producing.

You can breed something and then it takes time for it to actually grow to find out if the apple is any good.

And after that period of time, the apple may be produced and decide that this apple doesn't taste very good or something's wrong.
