Bobby LewisGuestWhy does it matter that our kids are self-starters? Why not just do it for them? Why is that a life skill we want our kids to have?

Yeah, I think one of the big reasons why it's important for kids to become self-starters, they're not naturally going to do it.

We have to guide them towards that is that kids who are self-starters, they manage stress better.

They just get through life without feeling as overwhelmed when they're self-starters.

And that's a big thing because a lot of kids are facing mental health problems, anxiety, depression, all sorts of stuff like that.

And part of being a self-starter as a child is just having the ability to regulate your emotions really well.

And so if you're a self-starter, you're probably going to have a little more grit, a little more perseverance.

And when you do face those challenges, you'll be able to overcome them a little bit more efficiently and hopefully believe in your abilities a little bit more.

And, you know, it'll go a little better for kids who are self-starters who don't have to be pushed into getting things done.
Kids who face challenges and push through them build something that kids who never get a chance to struggle, they just don't have.
I'm so proud of our youngest daughter when I think about this whole thing of managing stress.
In fact, she did some courses or some classes on executive functioning and organization and advocating for yourself.
And she took a test that that she failed and she was a wreck before it, during and after that.
