And in this particular one it is a definitely interesting way of doing it as it's sort of all going to be a most impenetrable pop culture reference of the week in place as a lot of this episode involves Alf watching an actual episode of the Dick Van Dyke show a fantastic early 60s sitcom with Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore created by Carl Reiner which ran from 1961 to 1966 and generally considered by both America and me to be one of the great sitcoms and it's kind of interesting that Alf has decided to bone up on pregnancy and stuff by watching an episode of a sitcom where the couple aren't even allowed to sleep in the same bed Talking of boning

up, in this new woke environment we live in these days, are you going to have to bleep Dick and Dyke from Dick Van Dyke?

Ben and I have discussed this beforehand, and I've never seen the Dick Van Dyke show.

Despite the fact I'm well aware of its huge influence and how great it is, I've never actually seen a single second of it before watching this episode of ALF.

Well, you'll come across this episode pretty quickly as it's episode 15 of series one, Where Did I Come From? Which is basically their son saying, where did I come from? And they flash back to the day that their son was born or before then.

You see a lot of it in the episode, him sort of nervously jumping out of bed and putting his hat on and he's wearing his clothes already and things like that.

cool that's the whole point she's the one who's pregnant but she's calm and collected and he's like and basically the worst possible role model for alf to take on in his part of wanting to be the midwife sure um much like uh the cats in the cradle alf's in the nursery mixing up the medicine with um lofty from There's a reference the Americans will like.

But have we seen the nursery since Kate's baby shower about 15 months ago? No, I don't think so.

Yeah, because she pops in to show him how to actually do it, which is apparently very slowly and with no jokes.
