Rob Petrie

Cast and crew.

Rob Petrie.

Yep, Robert Petrie.

That's it.

So I'm happy for that.

You know, there's an old episode of Dick Van Dyke Show back in the 60s where Rob Petrie was in a psychologist's office being analyzed.

And he made the comment that he thinks during summer camps, he was recalling his summer camp, that summer camps always advertise for a bully, that they bully.

send out applications but say we need one bully for each each week at camp i almost feel like that now substitute teaching it's almost as if every class is required to have one student who is defiant and that's their job i had it twice this week at two completely different schools two completely different grades i mean completely different several years apart so we're going to talk about that a little bit today you got to remember man i am old school i am 68 and i remember back in my day and even parents to some parents today would tell you this that you respected adults just because they were adults doesn't happen as much anymore it is generational there are some of you listening to me right now saying Greg it's time to just get over it we don't act like that anymore I don't mind if we don't use yes sir no sir anymore in fact I prefer not to do that because it just makes me feel old but I know there's a lot of people that still want you to do that out of a sign of respect but this week I I'm starting to think I have a lower tolerance for this kind of thing.

Now we're kind of binge-watching a show we both grew up on.

So anyway, for those of you who, whether you've seen the show or haven't seen the show, Dick Van Dyke plays Rob Petrie.

He's the head writer of a variety show in New York City called The Alan Brady Show.

I think Alan Brady is loosely based on Sid Caesar because he's a difficult personality.

Anyway...

The character Rob Petrie lives with his wife, Laura Petrie, and their son, Richie, in New Rochelle.

And his two staff members on his writing team, Buddy Sorrell and Sally Rogers, played respectively by Maury Amsterdam and Rose Marie.

And it's just so funny because virtually every episode, they find a reason for Buddy and Sally.
