The Modern Day Gambling Epidemic Plaguing Our Youth || Abu Majid Alhalaby

The Ummah hasn't really faced this too often.

It's more of a modern epidemic.

If you look even as little as 20 years ago, it wasn't that prevalent.

It wasn't that common in the community.

Whereas now, it's not only prevalent and common, rather it's hidden.

It's hidden and now it's become unknown.

Is this part of it? Does this count? People are falling into it without even knowing they're falling into it.

And the topic I'm talking about is Al-Qimar or Al-Maysir.

If you look back 20 years ago, In the community, before phones became really prevalent, if somebody wanted to gamble, they had to actually go out to the pokies, they had to go out to the casino, they had to go out to the TAB, they had to go somewhere specific which was known as a place of sin.

Sin.

They had to go out in public and go to these places, which most Muslims were too shy to even do that thing.

They were too shy.

But it wasn't that prevalent when in Allah al-Hamd.

But nowadays, it's not that difficult to get into it.

Rather, it's easier than it's ever been.

Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says, يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنَّمَا عُفْوًا Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala clearly says, O you who believe, that drinking alcohol and khamar, i.e. intoxicants in general, and walillahil hamd, still till now the ummah, majority of the ummah, are very good at staying away from this, walillahil hamd.

We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to keep us steadfast.

Then Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says, walmaysir, and almaysir, It's talking about gambling.

And Maysir, it's from Yusro, from something easy.

And it comes easy.

You think the money comes easy to you.

But it also goes away easily as well.

That is what Qimar is.

And then he says Al-Ansab, which is slaughtering.

For other than Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
