Well, we welcome you to a study that we've been doing where we've walked through the books of the New Testament.
This second part that we've been doing since the late spring, we started with Acts, and now we've come to 1 and 2 Peter, and I'm adding Jude.
Now, both 1 and 2 Peter were written by the Apostle Peter, who was one of the closest disciples to Jesus.
And Peter mentions at least twice in his two letters, once in each letter, that he was an eyewitness.
We're listening to the words of somebody who walked with him and knew him and saw him.
In 1 Peter 5.1, I exhort the elders among you as a fellow elder and a witness to the sufferings of Christ.
We did not follow cleverly contrived myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Instead, we were eyewitnesses of his majesty, for he received honor and glory from the Father when the voice came to him from the majestic glory, saying, This is my beloved Son with whom I am well pleased.
We ourselves heard this voice when it came from heaven while we were with him on the holy mountain.
