And this past weekend we saw two incidents on the field, uh, where officials were losing their cool, uh, losing their composure in, in some heated moments.
And Monday afternoon news came in that referee Adrian Hill, uh, was suspended for one game, line judge Jeff Seaman suspended for two games.
And, uh, so now I'm gonna th- just go right to, to y- the crew here and get your initial, uh, reaction to what's happened this weekend.
I expected Seaman to, at maximum, be suspended for one game and fined a game check.
I am surprised, and very surprised, that they are sitting for one and two games.
And in Seaman's case it was, uh, a question of a call, no call, and, and we analyzed that and, and that part is, is not entirely relevant.
First of all, it, it got the, um, it got the, uh, uh, the Cardinals a little off, a little unglued there because they had a false start, um, or pardon me, a delay of game on the, uh, on the ensuing, uh, snap.
So then what we saw immediately after that is, uh, Trey McBride, the Cardinals tight end, who was still aggrieved, he's down at the 15 yard line and, you know, way, way out of the, uh, the bench area, and he's still chirping at, at Jeff Seaman who, in typical New Jersey style, uh, this was at the Meadowlands, uh, gave a, a retort that, uh, was more suitable for an episode of Soprano.
But, um, yeah, so he's sitting two weeks for, for that comment, um, a- addressed at, at Trey McBride.
Um, you know, th- there's a lot of the pre-game checklist, and having a player come all the way down the field, uh, to, to chirp at you, all right, yeah, that, that wasn't the best response but, um, you know, Pat, you know, uh, you're at the wing and, you know, it's, it's bad enough what's, what's happened, what's transpired.
Now, uh, y- you know, you're still having to deal with not even just a coach, but a player that's chirping at you at the sideline.
Working the wing is, uh, never easy, and there's, we're always hearing something from somebody.
Uh, I think two, two big things for me are, you know, the first off we'll let you have your say in the moment, you know, say what you wanna say about a play, but once the play's over, you know, we're moving on.
Um, once you start going back a few plays or even longer, that is very frustrating and, and something that really isn't tolerated, whether it's football or even, you know, really any other sport.
You know, it's one thing when you have the coach over your shoulder when you're on the 50.
