Chelsea

Neighborhood in New York

May 25, 2026

21:59
And how's that evolved?
ChelseaGUEST
22:01
Yeah.
ChelseaGUEST
22:01
Um, so I've just been focused on like really learning the business and what my role is here [laughs], you know? Like I didn't, I didn't come in s- like saying like, "Yep, I'm gonna do all these things." I just wanted to like immerse myself in how we do things, and the team does a great job, and so I just wanted to learn from them and like build relationships with them, um, and see, yeah, like h- what they need me for, you know? Um, and so I've been like going into work.
ChelseaGUEST
22:35
So I, there's one location that's like an hour from me and another location that's like 30 minutes from me, but the further one away is like the kinda headquarters where the office is and the, the production facility, and so that's where I go most of the time.
ChelseaGUEST
22:49
Um, and I'll spend like my whole day there.
ChelseaGUEST
22:53
Uh, and I honestly, like I didn't expect to go into the office as much, but I just really enjoy it.
ChelseaGUEST
22:57
So, um, what have I been doing? [chuckles] There's just like all sorts of stuff that pops up, like um, the issue we had with our big customer was like a quality issue that came through.

8 MINS LATER

30:53
Like what have you already started changing, if anything? And, um, tell us about some of the opportunities that you've already kind of discovered in the business.
AndyHOST
10:29
Yeah
ChelseaGUEST
10:29
... um, when you actually start really planning and giving proper dates, and then they will put in the requests for the park operat- operators to confirm whether that is okay.
ChelseaGUEST
10:42
Um, and then around 11 months, that's when they confirmed the date of our wedding, and that's when the real planning started.
ChelseaGUEST
10:51
Um, so then you get to choose your photographers if you...
ChelseaGUEST
10:54
You can choose outside photographers.
ChelseaGUEST
10:56
I did choose, uh, Disney Fine Art Photography myself.
ChelseaGUEST
11:00
It was easier from the UK, um, just having everything, uh, be Disney rather than, uh, trying to get outside vendors to, to do-

7 MINS LATER

AndyHOST
17:48
Uh, and then after the wedding?
6:38
... to pay off your mortgage?
ChelseaGUEST
6:40
It was, yeah.
ChelseaGUEST
6:41
We decided, you know, we were both in student loan repayment plans that were, I was doing public service loan forgiveness, and my husband is on IBR, and so we had our kind of little student loan payments every month, and we decided we were just gonna, we never had a, you know, a car payment or credit card debt, and we just s- decided we did not wanna be in debt, and so we were gonna work hard to pay our mortgage off.
ChelseaGUEST
7:02
But the biggest factor was deciding a year ago to move from where we were living, which was turning into a higher and higher cost of living area, to the Midwest.
ChelseaGUEST
7:14
You know, we, we did some geographic arbitrage, as you call it, and kind of did the math of how much we could sell our home for and how much we could buy land and a home for out here, and it just made financial sense.
ChelseaGUEST
7:28
And so we sold our home for more than twice as much as we bought it for seven years later, and then moved here and were able to pay cash for a home and 50 acres and no more mortgage.
11:54
... with a significant family that's wondering if they can be financially successful, what advice would you have for them?
ChelseaGUEST
11:59
them?I would say, especially for people who are considering a family or when to start, I, you know, my advice would be if that's important to you, go ahead and go for it, and your priorities will kind of sort themselves out.
ShanaHOST
2:47
So tell us what brings you to the call today.
ChelseaGUEST
2:51
I just happened upon you guys, uh, by chance, although I don't think it was by chance really.
ChelseaGUEST
2:57
[laughs] Yeah.
ChelseaGUEST
2:58
I actually went through Financial Peace University years ago, and my husband and I like attempted to follow all the baby steps and it worked, but I just felt like it wasn't really for us.
ChelseaGUEST
3:13
And the way that you guys describe how you handle finances, it really resonated with me in a way that you could still live life and enjoy life and build memories and be wise with your money, and that's where I want to be.
ChelseaGUEST
3:27
And so that's what pulled me in.
ShanaHOST
4:08
Is there something specific that you maybe have a question about or that you want us to hopefully tackle and help you with?
ChelseaGUEST
4:14
Yeah.
3:54
We couldn't really get anybody to talk to us.
ChelseaGUEST
3:56
When I reached out, a lot of people didn't respond or they passed away, so, like, the leads that we had, it was kinda hard because...
ChelseaGUEST
4:06
How do you phrase it? Like, they w- they were old, and they didn't have social media.
5:09
But for anybody that hasn't, what did you decide to do with your episodes for Jeanette this year?
ChelseaGUEST
5:14
Over the summer, I got access to her diary, and at first I was just gonna just cover, like, one episode on it, you know, talk about what she talked about in her diary.
ChelseaGUEST
5:24
But after not being able to get a lot of responses from people or, like, kinda build more evidence and build my leads, I kinda had to, like, shift directions.
ChelseaGUEST
5:34
And so after reading it, I got a really deep look into her life and seeing, like, her everyday life, what it was like in Reed City for her, what her job was like to, like, e- every detail and...
ChelseaGUEST
5:45
So I decided that for my last two episodes, I was just gonna take the audience through what the months leading up to her death was like.
14:09
Chelsea, tell us a little bit about your case and what we can expect.
ChelseaGUEST
14:12
The case I'm working on is the case of Jeannette Robertson.
ChelseaGUEST
14:15
She was a twenty-seven-year-old woman, and she was murdered back in nineteen eighty-three.
ChelseaGUEST
14:20
And her case, she was brutally murdered, and her whole case is just really weird.
ChelseaGUEST
14:25
There's such odd components factoring in.
ChelseaGUEST
14:27
She was murdered broad daylight in the place of her work, and it's weird because nobody saw the murderer leave.
ChelseaGUEST
14:35
Nobody saw, like, anything that could kinda help further this case apparently.

19 MINS LATER

LexiGUEST
33:55
And giving these people a story, a way to exist outside their families, a way to exist outside of just their community, it's important.
ChrisGUEST
8:52
But if it meant you could do it without me realizing there was a problem-
ChelseaGUEST
8:55
I'm not that kind of alcoholic.
ChelseaGUEST
8:57
Yes, we drink together, but apart from when we started going out, you and me, we, we didn't get off our faces.
ChelseaGUEST
9:04
In fact, once I realized I had a serious problem with drink, I, I did everything I could to keep it a secret from you.
ChelseaGUEST
9:12
Surely all the bottles you found hidden around the house told you that.
ChelseaGUEST
9:16
You didn't enable me, Chris.
ChelseaGUEST
9:18
I did it myself.
SopheGUEST
12:05
Just the fact I asked you to do my hair, that's got to be the universe telling you this was meant to happen.
ChrisGUEST
1:41
You're listening to Sunday's episode of The Archers from BBC Radio Four.
ChelseaGUEST
1:46
[upbeat music] Oh, you have to come and see, Alice.
ChelseaGUEST
2:04
Me and Jas have spent the day ripping out the old plywood floor and putting in laminate.
LilianGUEST
2:28
[laughs] No, indeed.
ChelseaGUEST
2:29
I can't wait, though.
ChelseaGUEST
2:30
I'm styling another bride's hair this Wednesday, and that's only happened 'cause I was recommended to her by a client.
ChelseaGUEST
2:37
Imagine the vibes when I've got my own mobile hair salon.
ChelseaGUEST
2:40
It's gonna blow up.
SteveGUEST
10:22
Mm.
ChelseaGUEST
10:22
And he was not allowed to be there, so I did get rid of him amongst the owners' requests.
ChelseaGUEST
10:29
Um, but the other spirits have stayed, and they're more than happy to stay as well.
ChelseaGUEST
10:36
There's, like Steve said earlier, a little girl named Ginny.
ChelseaGUEST
10:40
She's cute.
ChelseaGUEST
10:41
She's fun.
ChelseaGUEST
10:42
Um, there is a man named Daniel, and the la- this last time we were there, I'm pretty sure, he looked drunk.

12 MINS LATER

23:12
Mm-hmm.
10:47
So this is something that you have grown up in.
ChelseaGUEST
10:50
Kinda, yeah.
ChelseaGUEST
10:52
Like Mom said, I grew up in a haunted house.
ChelseaGUEST
10:54
You know, uh, her house that she grew up in, so my grandparents' house, was haunted too.
ChelseaGUEST
10:58
Um, had some just, you know, interesting strange experiences, and, um, I started noticing my own abilities at a young age, but never really learned how to harness them or anything until just a couple of years ago.
ChelseaGUEST
11:12
Um-
LauraGUEST
11:53
[laughs]
ChelseaGUEST
11:53
It's your turn.
36:59
Whatever you like.
ChelseaGUEST
37:00
Um, I'm excited to see where it goes, but I am hoping they keep it going.
ChelseaGUEST
37:04
I definitely would be sad if we went into a new hiatus, although I can understand if they do.
37:09
But what do you think they should do creatively? Do you have any thoughts on that?
ChelseaGUEST
37:13
They've already done the War between Land and Sea, but I would really love to see something more on the villains.
ChelseaGUEST
37:18
So I would love to see maybe an expansion on the Master or on the Rani.
ChelseaGUEST
37:22
We get to see them so little, that I would love to see more of them.
10:21
And why did you buy a house?
ChelseaGUEST
10:23
Well, in the past, real estate has worked out for me personally.
ChelseaGUEST
10:28
I've owned a couple of different homes in the last decade and was able to kinda, like, upgrade as I've owned the next house with the proceeds that I got from the previous home.
ChelseaGUEST
10:38
We bought a house this go around because this is where we want to live, and this is the school district we wanna be in.
ChelseaGUEST
10:48
And I think we will be here for a long period of time, and so it just made sense for us.
ChelseaGUEST
10:55
I go back and forth because I think about it.
ChelseaGUEST
10:58
We were originally going to build a home, and that would have required us to rent for a little while.
14:38
So do you feel like you're not able to do things that you wanna do right now because of your mortgage? Is it holding you back from doing something, and what is that something?
